New to Unity
New Visitor Tips
Welcome to Unity Boston! We’re excited to have you join us. To help make your first visit enjoyable and stress-free, we have compiled answers to some of the most frequently asked questions by new members.
Where can I park?
Free street parking is available all day on Sundays on nearby streets such as Colchester St., Chapel St., and Hawes St. If you’re visiting Monday through Saturday, please note that there is a two-hour parking limit in the surrounding area.
What should I wear?
Come as you are. Attendees wear everything from jeans and sandals to business casual. Your comfort matters most.
What should I know about the service and meditation?
To limit distractions during services and meditation, please be courteous by turning off all pagers and phones. If you arrive during the meditation, please sit at the back until it is completed before moving towards the front.
What happens after the service?
Join us downstairs in the Community Room for coffee, tea, and refreshments, sometimes even a potluck lunch! It’s an excellent opportunity to connect, ask questions, and learn more about Unity Boston. Don’t forget to check the bulletin board for upcoming events and activities.
Will I be asked to stand or speak?
Not at all unless you’d like to be! We understand that visiting a new spiritual community can feel intimidating, so we won’t call you out or put you on the spot. You’re free to participate at your comfort level. We encourage you to attend for several weeks to get a full sense of who we are and what Unity Boston might offer you in your spiritual journey.
